Core Align
The CoreAlign is a pilates piece of equipment designed by Balance Body. In physical therapy its purpose is to assess and correct dysfunctional movement patterns, alignment abnormalities, muscular imbalances, flexibility, and balance and coordination deficits. By focusing on understanding and training functional, whole body movement, we create pain free movement patterns that will help in the prevention of injury. The CoreAlign is a great tool for helping patients increase core activation and stability throughout the body. The machine also allows for retraining proper load transfer for restoration of correct gait mechanics.
Reformer
The reformer is also a piece of equipment that is commonly used in pilates and has many different uses. In physical therapy, the machine is utilized by helping patients create better body awareness, improving posture and better core activation. This leads to improved flexibility, agility, and efficiency of motion. There is a focus on proper breathing, correct spinal and pelvic alignment, and concentration on smooth, flowing movement. The reformer can also be very beneficial to patients that have been on weight bearing restrictions due to fractures or surgical post-operative instructions. Typically, one will have greater tolerance when reintroducing load of the affected extremity when using this machine.
